Morning Musings
Do I go to the coffee shop? Do I stay home? Do I go to the coffee shop? Do I stay home? The coffee shop is calling. But I really should stay home. But I really want to get out of these walls. But I have so much to do. But I could get so much more work done there. But the laundry pile...and the dust pile...and the... Torn. Maybe I'll just make a pot of coffee here and save the travel for tomorrow.

Monday Motivation: Bring it to Completion

"And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago;
but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have.
For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have."
~ 2 Corinthians 8:10-12
I started working on my first novel last year. Then, I set it aside to work on something else. I started a couple of other novels in the process. And none of them are complete.
Maybe I wanted to get first paragraphs onto my computer screen, in hopes of not forgetting the inspiration of the moment. Maybe I doubted I could finish what I'd started. Maybe I wondered if I have what it takes to write 80,000 plus words. Maybe I wondered if people would really care about my characters and I doubted my abilities to tell an intriguing story.
Whatever held me back, I am held back no longer. I've pulled that first novel up on my screen and written another 10,000 words over the past month. I've added to what I'd started. I've headed for that goal of completion. I've determined to do what it takes to finish the project.
I give this advice:
It is to our advantage to do what God has called us to do, inspired us to do, given us the desire to do.
If we stood ready, desiring to write, we must complete what we started. God's Word never came back (or will come back) void. If He placed words in us, ours shouldn't, either.
Our mind was willing to start the project, so we must be willing to admit we have what it takes to complete it. God has provided all we need, and when we feel like we don't have any more, we can fill our thoughts again with His. Run to the word of God today and be inspired anew.
